A sharp, must-see satire on American culture, Idiocracy stars Luke Wilson in an outrageously funny sci-fi comedy where dumb meets dumber. Written and directed by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head, Office Space, King Of The Hill), Idiocracy premieres to buy and rent on DVD on 23rd April 2007 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Army private Joe Bauers (Wilson; Old School, The Royal Tenenbaums) is deemed suitably average by government scientists and is assigned to be a guinea pig in an experiment to test if humans can be stored indefinitely in hibernation. Also taking part in the experiment is Joe's female counterpart Rita (Maya Rudolph, Saturday Night Live), reluctantly let go by her pimp.

While the pair sleep in sealed pods on an army base just outside Washington D.C., the government base closes, the experiment is forgotten and they lie undiscovered for centuries. Meanwhile, a dumbed-down nation has grown so hopeless that most technology collapses, and rubbish has piled up so high that an avalanche of garbage descends on the city in the year 2505. The disaster sends Joe's casket straight into the apartment of defense attorney Frito (Dax Shepard, Employee Of The Month).

Upon waking, Joe and Rita find themselves in a world where stupidity reigns. Costco is bigger than a large city, buildings are duct-taped together, crops are being watered with a sports energy drink, and every Starbucks order comes with a hand-job! Stupid people have outbred intelligent people and the world is (barely) run by morons.

To his shock, Joe soon learns he is now the smartest man alive and is recruited by the White House to solve all of the nation's problems. Unwilling to take on the responsibility, Joe looks for a way back home, far away from a society that has difficulty deciding whether he is a possible saviour or potential threat.

Bitingly witty and infused with Mike Judge's unique brand of comedy genius, Idiocracy has all the makings of a cult classic. Be smart and experience Idiocracy on DVD this April!
