Robert De Niro, Greg Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn Stamos star in Godsend - the spine-chilling horror about the death of an eight year old boy and the consequences that follow when he is genetically cloned and 're-born'. Helmed by British director Nick Hamm, Godsend is available to buy and rent on DVD and Video on 8th November 2004 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
Paul Duncan (Kinnear, Stuck On You), a teacher, and his photographer wife Jessie (Romijn Stamos, X-Men) live a normal family life with their son Adam (Cameron Bright, The Butterfly Effect) until the day he is suddenly killed in a traffic accident. The couple are devastated until one day when they are approached by Dr. Richard Wells (De Niro, The Godfather, Cape Fear) who suddenly offers them new hope. He promises the Duncans an illegal opportunity to retrieve one of Adam's cells and implant it in Jessie's womb, so that she can bear a child genetically identical to her lost son.
Although Paul and Jessie are initially reluctant, their grief over their life without Adam is unbearable and so they eventually decide to place their trust in Richard Wells. In order to prevent any difficult questions and start a new life, the couple cut off contact with their family and friends, and move to Vermont where Richard's 'Godsend' medical facility is based.
At first all goes to plan; Jessie quickly falls pregnant and gives birth to a son physically identical to her firstborn. For eight years, Paul, Jessie and Adam get on with their lives, until Adam reaches the age at which his genetic twin died. Adam seems to change personalities, behaving in a distant and menacing way both at home and at school. He regularly suffers from night terrors and visions, in them seeing a little boy whose experiences seem to intersect with his own. Paul and Jessie cannot escape the fact that this Adam is different. Terror settles on the couple as they try to come to terms with what they have done or what has been done to them.
Godsend on DVD is packed with a host of creepy special features including four alternate endings with commentary, a director's diary (Hamm, The Hole), cast interviews and storyboards.
